M. pappi belongs to the Meoneura flavifacies species group. It is another species of this group with almost completely black frons and a black face and therefore is very similiar to M.
carpathica and M. occulta. However it is easily distinguished from these two species by the postgonite that is bent like a hook apically, the lack of hairs dorsobasally at the surstylus and the hair fringe on the epandrium. the completely microtomentose scutum and the lamella that is not fused with the surstylus basally and that is about half as long as the surstylus are two additional characters to distinguish M. pappi from M. occulta.
