Diagnostic description:
Small to medium-sized (3-11 mm), light gray or yellowish, hump-backed flies. Costal vein of wings broken twice: just beyond humeral vein and at conjointment with subcostal vein; subcostal vein complete, basal crossvein (bm-cu) lost, pedicel with dorsal suture, first flagellomere with long dorsolateral process projecting into the pedicel, postocellar setae strong and convergent; all tibiae with dorsal preapical seta; costa setose between R1 and R2+3.
