Very slender flies, 1.3-4.5 mm long, shing to moderately pruinose, yellow to black, rarely with wing markings, very rarely with strongly reduced wings. Fore femur sometimes with posteroventral ctenidial spine. (Vockeroth 1987, Roháček 1998)
