Meoneura vagans
Diagnostic description:
Predominantly black species, with reddish anterior margin of frons and whitish yellow knob of halter; 1 dc; male terminalia with projecting long setae on cercus. (after Sabrosky 1959)
Taxon biology:
Meoneura vagans has been collected on carrion, on faeces of omnivores, on banana bait, and in bird's nests.
In the Netherlands Meoneura vagans has been collected from the second half of May to end of July in window and Malaise traps and on dead roe deer.
Distribution:
Idaho, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania; widespread Palearctic Region
